Coasttomountain.com is a blog about outdoor adventures. The blog started life as Tahoesux.com, a blog about outdoor mountain life in the Tahoe Basin, but quickly expanded to include all of our outdoor adventures. In March, 2013 when the blog reached nearly 1,000 followers, the blog changed it’s name to coasttomountain.com to more accurately reflect the scope of our adventures.
The blog is about being an outdoor athlete, hiking, trail running, mountain bike, road bike, backpacking, nature, dogs, photography, mountain life, oceans, surfing, the the simple joy of being outside.
The blog is the musings of an active couple and their dog who spend as much time as they can playing outdoors. The blog came about because they were having epic, crazy adventures and hardly seeing anyone out on the trails. They just want to share their their adventures and knowledge in hopes of inspiring others to get out for their own crazy, epic adventures.
S. L. just loves getting outdoors for some physical activity everyday. He started riding bicycles as a kid and just never stopped. He wants 36 hour days because there are just too many awesome things to do. He spends lots of his outdoor time trying to keep up with:

H. D. H is an all around female outdoor athlete. She is a multiple time national champion bike racer (in road, track, mountain bike, and collegiate). She is exceedingly humble and may not even tell you that she even rides a bike. She just loves being outdoors, and tries to have at least two outdoor activities each day.

Daisy Dela is an English springer spaniel. She is a dirt dog, water dog, bike dog, SUP dog, trail dog, and snow dog. She is always up for an outdoor adventure, and constantly teaches her “big dogs” the simple value of rolling in the grass or playing in the water.

They’ve each logged well over 100,000 miles on the bike (road, mountain, cyclocross, touring, town, cargo, tandem, etc). Mountain biking and road biking are their main recreational activities, but they also hike, trail run, SUP, surf, skate ski, backcountry ski, downhill ski, randonee ski (badly), snowboard, swim, backpack, camp, etc. More importantly, they’ve logged a massive amount of great adventures, experience, and knowledge.
In “real” life, they are both firefighters in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Sorry about that. Hopefully it’s a temporary WordPress glitch. Lots of new followers today since getting Freshly Pressed. Hope you give it another shot. Or check back again sometime. I try to do one or two photo posts (TahoePix) per week, and a more in depth “feature story” once per week. We have about a year of writing projects ahead.

Hey, I loved your comments on Steve C’s Adventure Journal on SUP. For me, the jury is still out, though I would like to go somewhere where I could get good enough to both prone surf and SUP in decent waves. We’re a little wave challenged up here in British Columbia.

My husband rode for a while with H at the Grasshopper on Saturday (he immediately recognized her bike from her review). Maybe you, too? Hope you had a great weekend!

Yup, that was her. She won the women’s overall. Sadly, I was at work. I’m working on the two Grasshoppers I wanted to do this year (Old Caz and Lake Sonoma). Hope your husband stayed out of trouble on the ice. I heard that about 40 people were caught up in a crash on black ice at the beginning- otherwise a great day to be out.

Cool! My husband has been participating in the Grasshopper races for years, and really enjoys them. He didn’t register this year.. he simply went out for the fun of it. He stayed upright, but he told me about all the crashes he saw on the ice. He’s NOT a fan of ice, so that part wasn’t fun for him.
